Meet the designer

Hi! My name is Amy Howard, and I am the owner and designer for AH Serenity Interiors. I’ve been in the design industry since 2016. What started as a hobby turned into a passion, then a dream, then a purpose. The importance of home is my motivation, and  helping clients bring their vision to life is my mission.

Prior to a career in design, my formal education was in Accounting and Management at Indiana University. 

When my husband's job relocated us from Indianapolis to Kansas City in 2015, I poured myself into creating a beautiful home for our new life.  That was when I truly discovered my love of interiors, and I applied for my first design job as a consultant at Restoration Hardware. During my next three years there, I returned to school and earned my Interior Design Certification through the New York Institute of Art & Design.  

In 2019 when my son was born, I left RH to stay-at-home. The time with him was such a blessing, but I couldn't help but feel like a part of me was missing. It was then that the idea for AH Serenity Interiors began to form. Having my own business has given me the freedom to pursue my passion while maintaining the flexibility that my family needs. 

Since launching AH Serenity in the spring of 2021, I've worked on dozens of projects in nearly every size, style, and budget. I still love the decorating aspect of interiors, but I find myself gravitating toward the construction/renovation side of design.  There's something rewarding about navigating the inevitable challenges of a remodel. From problem-solving to managing orders to balancing budget spreadsheets, I love that I can leverage my business background to alleviate some of the obstacles for my clients.

It also never ceases to amaze me the power that a little paint can have, and I get a lot of satisfaction bringing new life to outdated spaces.

The name Serenity is what home truly means to me. It is my absolute happy place. I am thankful every day I get to wake up and bring my clients one step closer to the joy that comes from loving the beautiful place they call home.
